Great Game, Great Win
I've said it before right here, but I just I think the whole vibe of the Yankee Stadium is fun. It's a fun place to pitch. It's always a challenge. It always feels like a playoff game every time you pitch here. That's fun. Facing Clemens added to it and so did Old Timers Day. I went outside and checked it out when they were introducing the old-timers. It's a special place, man. It's always fun to play here. It was fun facing Clemens. It was kind of toe to toe. He pitched good and I had it going it on a little bit. My arm felt really good today and that was the best my breaking ball has felt this year. I showed it for a strike enough that they had to chase it when I didn't throw it for a strike. When you face the Yankees your focus has to be sharp regardless of who you're pitching against because their lineup so good. I was more concerned with getting those guys out than what Roger was doing. He was obviously pitching good and I couldn't give up too much. The extra innings got a little nerve wracking but Shields and Frankie got it going again. It was a great game to play in and a great game to win.

Do you ever get a chance to go out and enjoy yourself in our fair city when you're here, or is it all business on the road?

That was one of the all time classic pitching duels on Saturday I am glad I was fortunate enough to be there .... my wife and I flew out there for the weekend and caught Friday & Saturday's game. We got to check out the Stadium Club before Friday's game - lots of historic photos (Ruth, Gehrig, Mantle, etc) - it was very cool. We were wearing our Angel gear the whole time .. around Manhattan .. on the subway... etc etc. Overall - the NY fans were great ... better than I had expected - it was clear to me that the Angels have earned their respect. Only when we were leaving the game on both days did we some derogatory remarks - the rest of the time it was good natured banter. Although after Saturday's game we got out of there quick ... when we finally got off the subway someone commented "Wow you guys actually made it back alive!". The whole trip was an awesome experience and to see the Angels take one in the Bronx was the icing on the cake.
Good luck at the ASG!

Great game on Saturday. I have already told you this but you constantly bring it to the Yanks and bring it at Yankee Stadium. I could get used to you pitching there on a more permanent basis. Congrats on the All-Star team and 11K's, thats big against that lineup because I really feel like this Yankee team is coming around and you just dominated them.

Also, your bat boy called me a geek for reading your blog. You should smack him or something.

Too bad you didn't get into the ASG last night. Maybe Scioscia made a call to Leyland asking him not use you unless absolutely necessary. I'd rather see you throwing more than one inning anyways.
